Concept
We learn about the world around us through interaction. When we are babies, we shake rattles and put unfamiliar objects in our mouths. We do anything and everything we can just for the result. Grab, feel, yell, hear, crawl, move. Action, result, action, result. Through this process we learn to adjust our actions. Changes in behavior bring us changes in the feedback we receive, and actions that produce desired feedback are repeated. Slowly we master our environment and ourselves.
Many behaviors, however, never yield feedback. We never learn to control these actions. Some of these actions, buried within us, are kept away from our pattern detectors. Can these physical processes, automatic responses of the autonomous nervous system, be sensed? Can they be controlled?
Execution
In short, the Brain Pod is an EEG reactive enclosure. When the participant sits within the Brain Pod wearing the EEG headband, the color and sounds of the Brain Pod will change to match the current state of the participant's brain waves (alpha and beta).
Below you will find pictures of its construction and also its showing at a Tasty Noodles event in the Mojave Desert.
